DOING BUSINESS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION 2018: CROATIA, CZECH REPUBLIC, PORTUGAL AND SLOVAKIA

  • Among the five cities benchmarked in Croatia, Varazdin leads in the areas of dealing with construction permits and getting electricity, Osijek in registering property and enforcing contracts, and Split stands out for efficient business registration.
  • Among the seven cities benchmarked in the Czech Republic, Prague stands out for its good practices in contract enforcement and getting electricity; Brno leads in the area of dealing with construction permits, Ostrava in property registration, and Olomouc and Usti nad Labem in starting a business.
  • Among the eight cities benchmarked in Portugal, Ponta Delgada and Funchal lead in the area of registering property, while Coimbra stands out for its good practices in getting electricity and enforcing contracts. Porto leads in the area of dealing with construction permits, while all eight cities perform equally well on starting a business.
  • Among the five cities benchmarked in Slovakia, Presov stands out for its good practices in business registration and construction permitting. Kosice leads in the area of contract enforcement, Zilina in getting electricity and starting a business, and Trnava in property registration.
